Kyd The Band – Roots

“With everything I write, I try to write directly from my life and what’s in my heart. I’d love for my music to reach all the kids like me, who are maybe questioning what they were raised to believe or feel like they haven’t found where they belong just yet. I hope those kinds of people hear what I have to say, and see a bit of their own story in my songs.

Taken from the new EP ‘Season 3: The Realization’ which is out now.

Watch: slowthai – nhs

If you’re not familiar, the NHS is the UK’s national healthcare system which anyone has access to; it’s one of the country’s most valued institutions, and one that tears down social hierarchy and treats everyone as equal.

“I wrote this track as a reminder to always appreciate what you have whilst you have it. Be happy and make do with what you have. things could always be better but things could also be worse. Thank you for everything.”

Taken from the upcoming album TYRON which is out on February 5th 2021 on Method Records.

Watch: SVEA – Pity Party

“‘Pity Party” is about a party getting way out of hands. When it’s 4 am, everyone’s wasted, and no one can nor want to stand for their actions anymore. People sleeping in your parents’ bed, someone is fighting in the kitchen, you puke but get up and drink more. Even though you kind of enjoy letting go of everything for a night you still feel very anxious about being the one responsible. Everything just starts to feel like a joke and at the end you start feeling sorry for yourself. The birthday party turned into a pity party!”

Taken from the outstanding new EP ‘Pity Party’ which is out now.

Watch: Petite Meller – Dying Out Of Love

In the years I have known of Petite Meller, I have come to learn that every release is so much more than just a song.

There really are very few creatives who execute their art as richly as Petite does; and with this video more so, featuring some of her fans creating performance art in public places.

“Our Love is art and art is just forever my love. This kind of love I wish for. A Forever, even after “till death do us apart”. I wished someone will sing this song to me. How we all wish to be loved.”

Biig Piig – Feels Right

A playful twist on indie pop, with a beat that makes us wish all the more that life was already back to normal.

“‘Feels Right’ is a track about the energy of a night out. I miss going out so much. The feeling of letting go and being surrounded by sweaty people; meeting strangers and one-night romances; the tunes and ecstasy. So we made ‘Feels Right’ with that in mind. The closest we can get to that feeling again right now is writing about it.”

New Music: Artifact Collective

This Copenhagen-based pop group have been pretty established in their native homeland since 2018, when their debut single ‘Light Blue’ become on of the most played songs on Denmark’s biggest radio broadcaster, P3.

The hits kept rolling after that, as did the sold-out shows and festival appearances. Now in 2020, the band return with a glistening new track that blends indie with RnB and pop in a dreamy, almost cosmic vibe that is beautiful to experience.

New Music: BUSHROD

Brixton-based artist BUSHROD has a polished style of hip hop that feels relaxed and smooth, all the while contrasting against sharp lyricism that tells of emotions and stories vividly.

‘Doing OK’ tells of how the pandemic led to BUSHROD losing his day job. While this would obviously affect anyone, he carried on and did the British thing of acting as though it was still fine.

“In a way I was trying to keep up appearances and putting on a ‘poker face’, because I was scared that people would judge me for not working or doing much with myself during lockdown. Me releasing this song is kind of a ‘f**k you’ to self-doubt and almost getting my own back on my old workplace for cutting me off, and showing people that I now actually am doing bigger and better things.”

Vaughan – Youngest At The Party

Vaughan returns with a captivating piece of electronic pop that looks into the dark under-belly of the queer party scene.

“It’s a song about the loss of innocence. It’s about finding myself in places that I wish I had never been. Realising that I was the youngest person there and wondering how I got to this point. How far away from the world did I need to be, to get myself there.”

Taken from the EP ‘I WAS’ which is out now.
