Saw this band in the Guardian last week as one of Mike Skinner’s featured new acts. French electro pop with a dark, grounded edge to it. Check out here.
New Music: Erika Fatale
This lady has been on my radar for a while now. Very strong voice, Erika Fatale has a vibe which makes me think this is the sort of music Christina Aguilera would be doing if she had her head screwed on properly. Having listened to a few of her tracks, I have a feeling it’ll be a matter of time before she blows up in the pop world… ‘Liquid’ is an impressive tune. Check out here.
New Music: Lectrolips
Lectrolips make music which I can only sum up as cheeky electropop. It’s fun. Their song ‘Stromotion’ was recently used in the WAHL UK commercial campaign. I have a WAHL, without which I would probably look like a monster. So on that account, I reckon they’re good. They’ve got some good tracks which you can download for free here, or check out their blog.
New Music: The New Spring
”When being in love everything that was inside before is now worn outside. Sweat bubbles in your palms, blood flushes through to the cheek (blushing). This feeling illustrates more than anything else the body’s reluctance to take a definite form”. Beautiful acoustic songs about love from Bastian Kallesøe. Check out here.

What are we thinking? Good? Ok? Bad? I think it’s a grower- get ready to hear this on the radio non stop! Check out our Gaga competition!
*UPDATE: two plays later it’s grown on me: This is AMAZING!*

The Streets has to go to Number 1 on Sunday’s charts… It has to!
So, The Street’s very last album was released this week in the UK. It’s currently on course to make the Top 5 in the album charts on Sunday. But for what is probably the best album to come out of Mike Skinner since ‘A Grand Don’t Come For Free’, as well as the sheer fact that this is THE LAST ONE, I really think everyone should go out and buy a CD or go to iTunes and get a copy… It’s epic, and has that ‘last day of term’ vibe to it. It’s excellent… Trust Me.
Love disco? You NEED this album!
I was at Fopp (in Covent Garden) earlier today and I had one of those ‘I’m trying super hard not to dance to whatever it is they’re playing on the stereo’ moments, but I gave up and started doing a bit of shuffling around the DVD isle. After overcoming my shyness and asking the hot Fopp person what it was they were playing, I was told it was Disco Discharge: Mondo Disco. There’s some Boney M, Liquid Gold and Space alongside Andy Williams and Passengers. Disco works best when mixed properly, and this is definitely one of the better disco compilations around. None of the super famous numbers, but it’ll make your groove shake.
New Music: Parade
I can be a massive sucker for girl bands (I can’t help it). These ladies could (and probably will) rival The Saturdays very soon- ‘Louder’ is pop perfection. Check out here.
New Music: Fallulah
New Music: Walk The Moon
It’s like sunlight…
Something for a chilly Friday in London. Have an amazing weekend.
First Listen: The Streets ‘Computers and Blues’ (Album Stream)
Click here to listen to The Street’s final album, ‘Computers and Blues’ in full before it’s release later in the month. It’s excellent. I’ll be sad to see the end of The Streets… until their gig in March!
New Music: Keep Shelly In Athens
New Music: Jessica Lea Mayfield
A bit of shameless Swedish pop…
Click here to check out Lena Philipsson’s new single, ‘Idiot’. It’s a really classy bit of pop, very mellow but upbeat at the time. It’s not had great reactions but I like it. If anything, I just love the way she sings ‘Idioot’. I might start saying that now. Lena is a huge pop institution in Sweden by the way, she’s been around for a crazy amount of time, and she’s represented Sweden in Eurovision.
New Music: Smatka
New Music: AlunaGeorge
New Music: Fitz & The Tantrums
I saw this band on Perez Hilton this evening, I usually don’t agree with his music tastes but this band is awesome. Think Mayer Hawthorne, The Noisettes and some Paloma Faith mixed in a happy jar. Check out here. There’s also a free download of ‘Moneygrabber’ which is really good!
Won’t let the city destroy us
The video to this is already out but I can’t embed it on to this blog. Bugger. But the song’s enough to get you excited about the weekend (even though it’s still Wednesday).
