Alaskan talent Jany Green is one of my favourite American pop talents to emerge from 2020. It’s practically impossible not to feel good after listening to this jam, which is an uplifting medley of indie, soul and pop.
“Music has always been my way of expressing what’s going on in my head and a way to fight back against the demons that I’m facing, but when I started to be happier and focus on only positivity and spreading love and joy, something clicked and everything just worked in a way I hadn’t seen before. Everybody has their demons but everybody also has angels and all I hope to do with my music is help people express their positivity, joy and love.”

A British talent who is not only a songwriter, but also a producer and multi-instrumentalist. The sound blends indie-pop with subtle hints of synth and funk to create something that is so easy to fall in love with.

A mesmerising blend of indie-soul and RnB, fused together with eccentric instrumentation and a sweet melodic flow. The song looks at the process of freeing yourself so you can move forward in life.
“This year has taught me a lot and forced me inwards. I rediscovered the youthful freedom we too often lose in adolescence. I’m comfortable in the chaos and I guess that’s my new freedom.”

One of the UK’s biggest music success stories this year, the Bradford outfit have released a sound that flirts between old-school garage and dance.

This song from Swedish pop starlet MIYNT is as playful and eccentric as the title would suggest. The track flirts between psychedelic indie-pop and trip hop to create a feeling of euphoria that is so refreshing to hear.
“‘A bite of papaya’ is the result of a slow disco jam and too much fruit.”

British talent Childe returns today with a song that lays bare his feelings towards his father; a truly finessed slice of dark electronic pop, filled with intensity and emotion.
“‘Two Thirds’ is a song I tried to write for ages. It’s about going into reverse. It’s quite nostalgic grief, so there’s comfort in it. I started it in my bedroom so there are a bunch of distorted vocals in there recorded on a 58. Then we recorded it in LA in January just before COVID stopped the world. We wanted the song to grow the whole way through, so by the end it’s totally massive – sirens and all.”

I feel disconnected
I also feel grateful
I feel okay
I feel homesick inside
I feel really happy lately
It’s been difficult, but I know it will get better
I feel excited for the future
How do I feel?

A wonderfully dreamy and ethereal sound that has the potential to let your mind escape to somewhere really quite beautiful.
“This project is an open palette of abstract music and lyrical concepts with no restrictions or reservations. I aim to make music that makes you feel as I write songs based around the memories and experiences in my life.”

A deeply conceptual and powerful approach to RnB-pop; this is a song that is so intricately deep and thoughtful that you may need more than one listen to fully appreciate it’s meanings.
“I looked up and found myself fed up with society around me. To keep from projecting my frustrations onto others I started texting myself a combination of poetry and questions for the gods, deities, and universe. But, one day I reached a limit. I sent myself this text that I later titled ‘RIGAMAROLE,’ a word which represents nonsensical, meaningless commotion and procedures often used to confuse people.”

This is one of those disco numbers that elevates your mood so much that you’ll have it on loop all afternoon.

The exceptionally talented producer returns with a stunning slice of finessed disco that feels both ethereal and dreamy. Taken from the new EP ‘Close To You’, which is out on 4th December.
“‘Jaded’ is definitely the most club-ready track off of the EP. It’s the embodiment of everything I love about the more experimental side of house music, which is exactly what I set out to create when I sat down to write it.”

When I look to how hip hop is interpreted across the world, this is the kind of approach to the genre that gets me most excited.
Japanese outfit WATER DAWGS have a distinctly unique style that feels totally immersive and original.
The sound is experimental and bold, yet controlled and thoughtfully produced. Listening to ‘Bloom’ is a genuine experience that is like none other.

A new talent hailing from Norway who blends punchy pop with synth tones to create something that feels retro yet current in equal measures.

A fresh talent from London with an approach to pop that feels industrial, sharp and abrasive, yet still emotive and playful.

This group is currently at 23 members as of September… But then again, would you expect any less from the mad yet brilliant universe of K-Pop?
