Damn… CHLØË BLACK just kills it! So good…
Listen: Eternal Death ‘Cry’
It’s a bizarre sensation listening to Eternal Death. On the one hand you expect the morbid, but then you realise it’s pretty sparky.
Watch: Naomi Pilgrim ‘It’s All Good’
Listen: Nadia Nair ‘Beautiful Poetry’
Nadia Nair! It’s been so long since anything’s come out from this eclectic Swedish talent. This track is such a progression from her previous tracks – more mellow and soulful.
New Music: GRMM
Australian electronica with some serious 90’s throwback. Check out here.
Free Music: Blackstreet ‘No Diggity’ (Figgy Remix)
Good remix from Figgy.
New Music: Tyler Nail
I haven’t posted up any cool Americana for some time. Yes, I said ‘cool’ and ‘Americana’ in the same sentence.
Because when it’s done right it sounds so warm, humble and honest without being cringeworthy. Just like this. Lovely stuff. Check out here.
New Music: Chris Cookson
Cute, almost cinematic pop. Check out here.
Listen: Shelter Point ‘Fossil’
Shelter’s Point’s debut track comes from forthcoming their EP, out in February 2015.
Watch: Hurricane Love ‘Nowhere To Go’
New Music: Astrid’s Tea Party
Indie pop with a very heavy synth vibe that’s pretty awesome. Catches you right from the start. Check out here.
Listen: Oh Wonder ‘All We Do’
A stunning effort from Oh Wonder.
Free Music: Olivver ‘Now You Know’
LOVE this free mellow track from Olivver.
Listen: Bakermat ‘Teach Me’
And while I’m in a disco mood this morning, you can’t go wrong with a little soul-house from Bakermat.
New Music: Freya
Starting the week with some light disco… Check out here.
BBC Sound Of 2015 longlist revealed
With the year finally winding down, the BBC has revealed it’s longlist for the Sound of 2015. The winner from this poll almost always ends up being a household name. Here’s the longlist of talent, with a link to their first feature on Alfitude when relevant – although bear in mind some of these posts are so old that the media’s probably not up any more:
- Rae Morris – featured December 2012
- Kwabs – featured March 2013
- James Bay – featured April 2013
- Years & Years – featured August 2013
- Låpsley – featured January 2014
- Shura – featured February 2014
- SOAK- featured February 2014
- Shamir – featured April 2014
- Wolf Alice – featured April 2014
- Sunset Sons – featured September 2014
- George The Poet
- Novelist
- Raury
- Slaves
- Stormzy
On a personal note, I think it’s a much stronger selection than the last couple of years. My bets go on James Bay, Shura, Rae Morris, Kwabs, Sunset Sons or Years & Years (my favourite) to win. But it’s hard to call just yet… A countdown to the shortlist leads to the winner being announced on January 9th 2015. Listen to the music here.
Jack Ü – Take Ü There feat. Kiesza
