Free Download: Penguin Prison vs Whitney Houston ‘Multi-Millon Dollar Bill’

One of my favourite current artists, Penguin Prison’s done a mashup of his new single, ‘Multi-Millionaire Remixes’ (out on June 5th) with Whitney Houston’s ‘Million Dollar Bill’. Very fun!

You can also download more remixes below – as well as  a teaser for the upcoming next single ‘Fair Warning’.

New Music: Niels Nielsen

Swedish solo indie rocker Niels Nielson’s most recent solo album, Cmon Vultures: Part 1 includes folk-inspired pop tracks drawing inspiration from the likes of The Radio Dept. and Modest Mouse. The album also features more upbeat, danceable tracks, such as “Tell Me Now” and “Absolutes,” along the lines of Peter Bjorn and John.

First Listen: The Kill Van Kulls ‘Lost and Found’

I just adore this new single by The Kill Van Kulls, who I’ve featured on here before. Visit the band’s website to hear more, or download a remix of ‘Lost and Found’ right here!

Free Download: AlunaGeorge ‘Analyser’ (Last Japan’s Buy Me A Spaceship and Fly Remix)

I’ve blogged about AlunaGeorge on here before, I really think they’re ones to watch. Fusing the current desire for wild electronic productions and a pop sensibility that everyone enjoys.

Free Download: NewVillager ‘Lighthouse’ (Punches Remix)

I love this remix – if it doesn’t pick you up when you listen to it then you’d need to be having a pretty bad day! Over the past year, NewVillager has made rumblings around the internet with catchy pop hooks, intimate live shows, and visually mind-bending videos. It’s with much excitement that they announce the release of their official self-titled debut coming June 21 on IAMSOUND.

Free Download: Carl Barât ‘This Is The Song’

This is one of the most gorgeously destructive and pretty songs I’ve heard in a really long time. Taken from the forthcoming EP- Death Fires Burn At Night EP (released 2nd May 2011). He has just embarked on a tour of the UK with support on all dates from Foreign Office and in April a documentary about The Libertines gets its premier at the East End Film Festival. The EP contains Carl’s recording of an unreleased Libertines track called ‘Grimaldi’, a new recording of ‘Death Fires Burn at Night’, a cover version of the Langly Sisters track ‘Sing For My Supper’ and ‘This Is The Song’ previously unavailable in the UK. You can download the song for free right here!

Free Download: Jon Fratelli ‘Santo Domingo’ (The Knocks remix)

Taken from his forthcoming new album “Psycho Jukebox”, it is at once strangely familiar, lyrically obtuse and so catchy it’ll make your head swim.  It follows the free download of ‘Rhythm Doesn’t Make You A Dancer’.

New Music: Moses Melkonian

“I write my music to share moments that we all experience.  Whether that moment was when I thought ‘shit, you’re beautiful’ or ‘wow, the view from here is great,’ it doesn’t matter, because we all feel greatness like that, usually together, as a collective entity.  And you know that’s happening when a killer track comes on and everyone’s dancing.  It’s like wow! – what’s happening here?  Those moments are timeless, and I want to feel them in everything I do. I create my tracks from impulsive feelings, and for me it’s just about staying true to that  impulse, and letting that mature and grow into something transcendental.” I haven’t heard of Moses Melkonian until today, and there doesn’t seem to be much out there online about his work but this is simply a gorgeous piece of music. Check out here.
