Hailing from New Jersey, alternative artist tyler drama fuses elements of punk and rock into his music to create tracks that feel both current and relatable.
Matched with captivating lyrics and distinctive vocals, this is a sound that is near impossible not to enjoy. On new single ‘her body lol’ tyler remarks:
“A body-positive song inspired by stories/feelings shared by young adult women.”

One of the standout R&B-pop releases of the month comes courtesy of Australian talent ‘BOY SODA’.
‘WELCOME TO THE GLOW UP’ is a kind of track that is impossible not to feel some kind of love for.
Playful tones are presented through a tastefully nostalgic production, complimented with vocals that are full of character and charm.

Brooklyn-based talent Sam Rappaport spent most of his life believing he was headed for the NBA. When his dream didn’t materialise, he went travelling across the country – working as a case manager for a welfare office, being a reporter for local newspapers and even bartending at a Sichuan restaurant.
No matter where he was or what he was doing, Rappaport was always connected to his music. With a style of songwriting that feels relatable and warm, it’s near impossible not to feel a love for this artist’s work.
Sam also co-fronts indie-rock band Gooseberry.

Emerging rockers Bakers Eddy bring a refreshingly joyous approach to the genre that is filled with fun, nostalgia and a ton of charm.
Based in Melbourne Australia (by way of Wellington NZ), the band have been together since the age of 12, crafting songs that are inspired by the likes of Supergrass and The Mint Chicks. On new single ‘My Baby’s Like Cigarettes’ they say:
“It’s about the push and pull in relationships and the ups and downs, cause sometimes one minute you’re cuddling in the kitchen, the next chef knives are flying across the room. It’s never always perfect but that’s part of it.”
Debut album ‘Love Boredom Bicycles’ will be released 25th March 2022 via Ivy League Records.

Emerging from South East London is newcomer Eliza Oakes. Drawing her inspirations from soul, pop, rock and jazz, this multi-faceted artist is influenced by the likes of Freddie Mercury, Laura Mvula, and everything in between.
New single ‘Til They’re Gone’ showcases Eliza’s more vulnerable side, with a composition that builds in intensity which is truly captivating to experience. On the song she says:
“I sometimes struggle to get my thoughts down on paper for lyrical content, but the strength of emotion of this song meant the words flowed very naturally, there was nowhere to hide. The silence was entirely purposeful as I went through a habit of overcrowding songs straight away from excitement. I began this song with the objective to be as minimal texturally as possible, it was an exercise of patience and rest.”
Taken from the new EP ‘An Intuition’ which is out now.

A stunning blend of dreamy indie and alt-rock from Californian outfit Lo Moon. Produced with Yves Rothman, their gripping new single ‘Dream Never Dies’ features soaring vocals that compliment a beautifully moving melody.
“As I get older, I’ve become more and more nostalgic about my youth. I had way less anxiety, I didn’t fear losing the people closest to me, or have to face the bigger questions of life. Hope and optimism were just a little bit easier back then. I work hard not to let the complexities of life suck the hope out of me. This song, if nothing else, is a reminder to try my best and not let that happen.” – Matt Lowell, Lo Moon
The band will be touring throughout the U.S. and Europe, opening for The War On Drugs next year.

LA-based singer-songwriter and producer Chuck Sutton has firmly established himself as one artist to watch within the worlds of electronic R&B, thanks to the release of his critically acclaimed debut album ‘i know what i’m doing*’ back in 2019.
With a talent for constructing melodic sounds that fuse genres together seamlessly, Sutton returns with another anthem in the form of new single ‘All or Nothin’.
“‘All or Nothin’ is my latest experiment, blending the forefront of electronic production with the pulsing groove of R&B dance. It’s self produced, self written, and was a thoughtless labor of love – I definitely put my ego aside to make sure it works just as well in the background as it does the foreground.”

Canadian teen wonder-kid Mia Baron returns today with one of the most memorable slices of pop you’re likely to experience all week. Featuring those phenomenal vocals, the 13-year old Toronto-based singer-songwriter continues to impress with her releases.
New single ‘Caught’ was born out of feelings of frustration and anger at how others seemed to get away with the way they were treating her, all the while she would get into trouble for the smallest things.

CXLOE unleashes an almighty pop banger in the form of her latest single ‘New Trick’. With it’s infectiously catchy melody and pounding drop, the song is all about celebrating a newfound confidence and being unashamedly yourself.
“‘New Trick’ is all about newfound, unapologetic confidence. Unfortunately, we often find ourselves in situations where we are suppressing feelings and hiding oneself in fear of being persecuted. The song talks about finally letting go of that fear and embracing confidence and individuality. Often, this brave trait doesn’t come naturally to most people, so when it does, it only feels best to describe it as a New Trick.”

Acclaimed Chicago-born rapper and producer Saba shares his collaboration with Daoud on funk-laden new single ‘Fearmonger’, alongside the announcement of new studio album ‘Few Good Things‘ which is out soon.
“At the time of making this record I was beginning to realise how big of a hold fears actually had on me. With big decisions to make, I was never sure if I was doing the right thing. Fearing if I was actually doing enough. Fear had become something that I just accepted. No longer trying to overcome it. Fear of losing everything. Fear of failure. Fear of not being enough. I walk on uncharted territory and it makes me think of my own family and their relationships to fear, failure, and success. The song mostly deals with fear as it relates to money in the Black household, a fear that I am still currently working through.”
“Being from a long line of poverty is not a new story, but it does come with its own traumas and judgements that can make our relationship to success feel like it’s never enough. It’s embedded into us from our upbringing so we spend our adulthood trying our best to unlearn it. It becomes you holding on to a dollar afraid to spend it or share it because you don’t know if it’s your last one. There is no family line or trust fund or rich grandparent that can help you. If you hit the bottom, it’s just that. The same way that your parents were, and the same way their parents were. ‘I know if I fall back down ain’t no one there to lend me rope.’”

Heavily inspired by his surroundings, Hertfordshire born and bred talent mustbejohn is fast becoming known for his relatable and catchy sounds; so much so that he already commands over 80,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
New EP ‘I’m In If You Are’ sees this artist seamlessly merge genres across six tracks, as he tells stories of life in the city, parties and the people that he knows.
“‘I’m In If You Are’ is quite literal in the sense, I’m in if you are! I’m sharing my personal experiences, ones with friends and a whole lot of stuff I’d probably be best not saying, but that’s probably what makes it worth the listen! There’s a blend of genres that I’ve always loved in there and that makes it really special for me. This record is the soundtrack of the most recent years of my life; messy nights, hangovers, confusion mixed in with some hope along the way!”
‘I’m In If You Are’ is out now.

UK artist Joey Knight is back with another sensational release in the form of new single ‘how to be happy’.
This coming of age anthem showcases indie-pop at it’s finest, perfectly balancing hints of melancholy with a more playful tone.
“‘how to be happy’ is a song about growing up, which I wish I could do less of some times.”

R&B shape-shifter Omar Apollo returns with his stunning new single ‘Bad Life’ featuring Kali Uchis.
“To me, ‘Bad Life’ represents putting in energy into a relationship and not getting anything in return. It’s a song about being resentful towards somebody — wanting them to have ‘bad life’ with whoever they’re with now. I posted a snippet in January teasing it and Kali called me telling me she loved it, so I asked her if she wanted to get on it. Her voice sounds amazing on it, I love her tone.” – Omar Apollo
The track marks Omar’s first release since summer anthem ‘Go Away’, and follows his recent Latin Grammy nominations for the C. Tangana collaboration ‘Te Olvidaste’.

London-based mixed heritage artist Miso Extra returns with a deliciously blended fusion of playful pop and rap on new single ‘Deep Fried’. The track once again affirms this talent as one of the most exciting newcomers to emerge from the UK so far this year.
“Food for me is a love language (be it the preparation, serving, or the eating of it) and ‘Deep Fried’ pays homage to that. The track celebrates the sudden overwhelming feeling of being drawn to someone, and I’ve likened the sensuality of this experience to eating deep fried food. Whilst mostly being in a fantastical dream-like state, the song’s English rap acts as a break from this; it is like a Freudian slip of me revealing my subconscious feelings.”
Taken from the forthcoming ‘Great Taste’ EP, which is out early next year on Beatnik Creative.

Track of the week. SUNSET 18 is a collaboration between emerging artists (and best friends), CCA Jonas and 8lanco. Having met at school in the Norwegian city of Bergen, these two talents bonded over their creative ambitions.
As each of them has already garnered significant traction on their own merits, it’s looking like the SUNSET 18 project could well take them on to achieving international mainstream attention.
“‘CHANEL’ is about a fight between the two of us. We’re fighting over a girl and discussing who wants her more. The girl is a metaphor for a grammy, so in reality we’re fighting for a chance at our dreams. We want people to feel the special dynamic between us in CHANEL!”

Continuing his ascent to stardom, British breakout artist ArrDee is back with new single ‘Flowers’. Centred around two samples (that of ‘Flowers’ by Sweet Female Attitude and ‘Say My Name’ by Destiny’s Child), ArrDee delivers his trademark bars amidst punchy drill beats and infectious vocals.
The track follows on from last month’s hit single ‘Wasted’ alongside Digga D, which went straight into the UK Top 10 (his third successive Top 10 in as many months) and remains on the BBC Radio 1 A-List.

“I was taught to pray for whatever you want and God will provide. I wasted two decades begging for fairer skin and lighter eyes. It became routine. I spent the majority of my life hating the features I currently love most about myself. A girl full of insecurities that over time harvests into self love. they won’t love you until you learn to love yourself.”

Some of the most original alt-pop to emerge from the US right now seems to be made by Amelia Moore. The longer you listen to ‘sweet and sour’, the more you are rewarded with unexpected musical twists and turns.
With a style of music-making that results in songs being delightfully unpredictable in their nature, this artist is firmly one to watch for.
