Watch: JOURDIN PAULINE – NOBODY

One of the most fun visuals I have seen all week, featuring a brilliant intro with Dan Rue from ‘Wild ‘n Out’.

The track itself is a fresh and finessed RnB number with some Guyanese flavour added for extra goodness.

“It’s about being young, single and living your best life. The record has a fun and carefree vibe to let loose to.”

Taken from the forthcoming EP ‘Love Songs About Nobody’ which is set to release later this year.

JOURDIN PAULINE

New Music: ill peach

An LA-based duo who construct synth-pop by their own rules; this is a refreshingly gritty, raw and rebellious approach to a genre which is usually defined by electronic minimalism.

Taken from the new Pop Can Records protest compilation ‘Sound the Alarm’. All Bandcamp proceeds will be donated to Street Watch LA, a grassroots coalition that fights Homelessness and tenant rights.

New Music: Mike Vallas

We don’t hear enough about Austrian pop, which is a shame because it’s a genuinely interesting music scene.

Mike Vallas is already on his way to becoming a household name in his native homeland, and this song could be the one garner him the recognition he deserves across the continent.

A polished sound with hints of melancholy, the track is complimented by his distinctive vocal carrying through a highly infectious melody.

New Music: SLYJYNX

For fans of Tom Misch, this is a British outfit who create effortlessly cool fusions of indie, soft disco and psychedelic rock.

It’s a sound that feels nostalgic and inviting, while still bringing a future-forward approach to indie.

“This song is about self-destruction within relationships.”

Watch: JGrrey – Doubt Nothing

A positive song with matching visuals is just about the most needed thing in 2020.

“‘Doubt Nothing’ again just does what it says on the tin. I was really particular about what song I was going to release following on from ‘Ain’t So’ and my mood and my energy and everyone else’s energy right now just needs ‘Doubt Nothing’, I’d like to think it’s uplifting. It’s just me in a song really.”

New Music: HEN$HAW

London-based rapper HEN$HAW creates sounds that address the sharp realities of life affecting us right now.

This release takes an observant look at the use of social media and it’s control over us.

“Social media is a disease. I’ve been coming to terms with that over the last couple of years and there’s no doubt in my mind that the effects of it are detrimental, especially in young people and girls in particular.”

Gabrielle Current – Plenty

Los Angeles born-and-bred talent Gabrielle Current delivers a beautifully mellow and dreamy piece of soul-pop that not only sounds gorgeous, but also showcases her refreshingly raw lyricism.

“‘Plenty’ is a question mark. Some ties sever without a warning. It’s about the unanswered questions I’ve had to internalise and a false sense of ‘confidence’ that often follows the experience. ‘Plenty’ is ironic, too, because what is plenty for the one that gets away sometimes leaves the other feeling empty. This is a song about that unevenness.”

Consistently delivering one stunning piece of lo-fi pop after another, bloody white returns with a song that reflects upon the heartbreak resulting from a former toxic relationship.

Taken from the upcoming EP, ‘some reflections’ which is released on 2nd December.

New Music: Haich Ber Na

Everything about this sound is perfection to me. Conceptually interesting yet intensely captivating, the track bounces between raw electronic beats and ethereal funk tones.

“The song is about someone leaving and desperately wanting to be with them, but trying to understand ‘it’s not the end of the world’ – like the sample I use says.”

New Music: TALIA

A gorgeously minimal and dark blend of RnB and electronic pop.

“I remember the day I wrote ‘colder;’ I was reflecting a lot on a complicated relationship I had a while ago. Coming out of a relationship with a lot of confusion and miscommunication hurts because I felt like it could have been saved ‘if only’ I or the other person had fought harder for it. Regret is always annoying because it just creeps back in. I usually write songs to help me understand or process my emotions. It’s definitely jarring to feel like the person I gave so much love and warmth to could suddenly be so cold.”

New Music: Memphis LK

A pop sound that feels both mellow and ambient while carrying moments of subtle euphoria.

“I had the idea for this song one night during iso in Melbourne when I was walking in the rain. It’s about being separated from someone you love, which is something a lot of people are experiencing right now because of the pandemic. I feel like during iso I’ve come so far with my songwriting and production – I’ve been listening to more music and rediscovering pop and RnB influences from when I was younger – and this song feels like a massive level up for me.”
