Stockholm based recording artist Ryk has an interesting approach to indie-pop that incorporates dramatic and intricate musical textures with captivating lyricism. It’s a sound that is like none other, and an experience from start to finish.
Taken from the debut EP ‘PARASITE FUTURE’ which will be out on the 5th February 2021.
“‘Pity Party” is about a party getting way out of hands. When it’s 4 am, everyone’s wasted, and no one can nor want to stand for their actions anymore. People sleeping in your parents’ bed, someone is fighting in the kitchen, you puke but get up and drink more. Even though you kind of enjoy letting go of everything for a night you still feel very anxious about being the one responsible. Everything just starts to feel like a joke and at the end you start feeling sorry for yourself. The birthday party turned into a pity party!”
Taken from the outstanding new EP ‘Pity Party’ which is out now.
This Copenhagen-based pop group have been pretty established in their native homeland since 2018, when their debut single ‘Light Blue’ become on of the most played songs on Denmark’s biggest radio broadcaster, P3.

Norwegian newcomer Ola Village debuts a playful track, that flirts between pop and that distinctive sound from 90’s indie to create something that is just pure joy; a song that reminds us that in the end, everything works out!
“This year hasn’t exactly been overwhelming with positivity, and working in music has definitely not been easy with everything going on. As a result I was gradually losing my motivation for it all. And that’s something I’ve never been even close to feeling before. At times I’d started picturing myself doing other things. Luckily that changed. After befriending the guy that mixed the single, I regained my motivation. He gave me a much-needed boost in my creative self-esteem. So, to me, the song is now really about hope. Dreaming big and also believing that you can do it. But it’s still mostly just a silly song. I mean, Kanye would never make his own lemonade.”
An artist and songwriter hailing from Helsinki, SUAD blends that dark and ethereal sense of Scandinavian melancholy into an indie-rock sound that feels intense and atmospheric in equal measures.

It’s been a rollercoaster for the kid since, who ended up performing all over the world and sharing bills alongside the likes of PSY and Norah Jones.
Still only 14-years old, she has released her major-label debut having just signed with Republic Records, and it’s an absolute stunner. Could this be Norway’s next global household name? Most likely so!

Another week, another outstanding Swedish pop discovery. This time around it’s Julia Viktoria, a talent who has created one of the most perfect-sounding electro-pop songs that I heave heard from Sweden in quite some time. Talking about this track, Julia says:
“I started getting a lot of flashbacks from my previous relationship. I could not stop thinking and reflecting on the time we had together and what we shared. I also reflected on the fact that a person who I shared a part of my life with suddenly turned into a stranger. I didn’t want us to be strangers, I wanted to be able to get to know that person again, in a different perspective.”
Taken from the new ‘Stranger’ EP which is out now.
Minimal, sleek and soulful Danish pop from a promising new talent. The song itself, unsurprisingly, looks at appreciating the genuine relationships you have with those who really care about you, rather than the false connections you make through social media interactions or following the latest trends.

This is one of the most interesting new talents to emerge out of Norway for a good while.
Cham Léon crafts a dark and twisted style of pop that is utterly mesmerising. On the one hand it’s powerfully intense and bold, while on the other playful and enchanting.
