Marie Lang – Cut U Off

A gorgeously melodic release from Austrian native artist Marie Lang, who’s beautifully emotive vocal is hard not to fall in love with.

Through some thoughtfully constructed lyricism, we discover that her new single ‘Cut U Off’ is all about the importance of setting up personal boundaries; even if it means ending a meaningful relationship.

“There’s always two sides to a story and you can stay true to yours without discrediting someone else’s. Sometimes it just comes down to ‘speaking a different language’ and having love for each other doesn’t always translate into understanding, even though it’s no one’s at fault.”

Taken from the forthcoming EP ‘HEART GAMES’ which is out soon.

New Music: Danny Bowens

A richly eclectic approach to pop from US talent Danny Bowens. This is a uniquely captivating sound that fuses elements of RnB and hip hop seamlessly, forming a style of music that feels charming and playful, yet deep and emotive.

Outside of music, Danny is a man of many talents; he is a thrill-seeking adrenaline junkie who has travelled the world climbing mountains and surviving in the wild. On the other hand, he’s also a college graduate who has worked in hospitals saving lives and practicing medicine to become a doctor. On the song, Danny says:

“Is it possible to be addicted to another human? To be stuck in their trance, as still as stone. You know they’re bad for you, destructive even, but you can’t help but do anything to keep them close. You’ve tried to stay away, you know what you need to do but your lust for them drives you right back into their clutch. You don’t want them, but you need them. It took me years to recognise how toxic my last relationship was, how it brought me closer to the edge than I’ve ever been, and how much I craved the risk. I was blind to her perniciousness, kept ‘stoned’ by her beauty, her love, her bone-chilling stare. She was my Medusa.”

Mathew V – Around Here

Matthew V has consistently impressed me with his releases. Always bringing an elegant approach to his sound (likely in due to an impressive ten years of classical operatic vocal training), this Canadian talent mixes hints of soul with RnB to form songs that have an almost timeless essence to them.

“I wrote ‘Around Here’ when I was mentally and emotionally diving into the past. It’s about the town where I grew up. I wanted to finally look back with some perspective on my formative high school years and how they shaped me for better and for worse. I think everyone has times in their life that they associate to certain places. For me that place exists actively in my mind and this song helped me process that.”

New Music: jessa

A beautifully sensual and sleek blend of alt-RnB and pop from American talent jessa. Her approach to music making combines airy and soothing vocals with rich, complex harmonies to form sounds that are nothing short of sublime.

“I started writing this song shortly before NYC went into lockdown last year and finished writing and recording it while quarantining. The song was inspired by a new relationship with a close friend with who I shared close mutual friends. There was this funny, kind of high-school vibe with our friends always asking ‘so what’s going on with that’ and not knowing what to tell them and trying to be low-key but inside just so into it.”

Gracie Convert – You got me

A perfect song to bring a smile to your faces, no matter what mood you’re in. Gracie Convert has released a blissfully joyous mix of RnB and neo-soul in the form of a love song that is so damn infectious that it’ll stay with you all day.

“It’s funny because I’m so used to writing about the sad side of love, it’s what comes most naturally, I honestly didn’t think I had it in me to write about love in such a positive light after what I’ve been through and what I’ve seen, but it’s nice to be able to do so.”

Schaus – Can’t Take My Bed

American artist Schaus first started creating music five years ago from his bedroom studio in Oregon, perfecting a sound that feels bravely avant-garde and eccentric.

With influences ranging from RnB and hip hop, to J-Pop and hyperpop, it’s truly hard to define the sounds you hear on new single ‘Can’t Take My Bed’. And that’s what makes the sound so special; this is the kind of music that grabs you surprise and leaves you mesmerised.

Taken from the new project ‘Pop EP’ which is out now.

New Music: stayMellow

A bold fusion of punk, rock and pop from a hugely exciting British talent who’s aim is to make music for people who feel like like they’ve been dealt a bad hand, underwhelmed and wanting more from life.

“My first song ‘Eye Contact’ is for people who find themselves seeing the same faces, in the same places every night. Numb and f*cked up, dancing to the same song, because it’s better than giving in to a normal life.”

With support already coming from BBC Introducing, Esmae is an aspiring British pop talent who’s style of music blends 90’s RnB with a more modern dance twist. The result is a sound that feels familiar yet refreshingly relatable.

Charlie Jones – Hoover Dam (feat. Òlah Bliss)

Two of the UK’s most promising artists come together to create a stunning slice of RnB-pop.

I’ve made no secret of just how much I am in love with both Charlie Jones and Òlah Bliss, and this collaboration together is just as perfect as you’d imagine it to be. On the song, Charlie says:

“I wrote this song with The Lab and then sent it to Òlah, who the Lab are working with. Òlah loved the song and added her parts. I’m super excited to have her on the song and she has made it fire! I love her voice.”

New Music: SIGNE DØ

Hugely promising new Nordic electro-pop artist SIGNE DØ crafts a sound so richly intricate and dark that you are prone to falling for it’s charm within seconds of pressing play.

Her new single ‘Frail’ focuses on the attraction for the unknown, and portrays the frailty and chaos connected to stepping out of the comfortable and familiar.

“The song was written at a time when I forgot what I had. It does not conclude, but reminds you that when leaving what you love, you also leave a part of yourself behind.”

Taken from the upcoming EP ‘Ways of Escaping’ which is out in May 2021.

Remington super 60 – Talk with You

Formed back in 1998, Norwegian indie-pop group Remington super 60 have released several albums and EP’s on various indie labels around the world through the years.

Their latest EP ‘Nouvelle Noveau’ consists of six new songs and one forgotten song from 2002. Some of those tracks were inspired by the breakup of band members Christoffer and Elisabeth, who were a couple for almost 16-years before deciding to end their relationship last year.

As good friends they continued to work together, and thanks to this new dynamic we now have a fantastic set of songs that showcase some of Norway’s finest fusions of dream pop and indie.

Vola Tila – Not Your Fault

Swedish indie-pop duo Vola Tila’s distinctive blend of indie and pop-rock features haunting vocals and hazy atmospherics that culminate in huge swathes of emotion.

New single ‘Not Your Fault’ looks at the their thoughts on the concept of time, and being stuck in a desire for something else.

“We know that the present is the only thing we have. Despite this, the future has had a great impact on us, and we have many times been stuck in a desire for something else, looking for something that does not exist. We processed a lot of this when we wrote the album. But we both realised somewhere along the way that we could not find what we were looking for until we stopped looking.”

Taken from the debut album ‘Soon’ which is out now.

New Music: Georgi Krastev

It’s not easy to create a sound so beautifully emotive in such a delicate and subtle way. Yet Kassel-based singer-songwriter Georgi Krastev has done just that with his new single ‘Light Years’.

The song looks into those feelings we all go through when a relationship begins to fall apart; the emptiness, the frustration, the glimmers of hope, the bittersweet end, and the lingering regret.

“I wrote this song after the end of one of my first relationships. I was very immature and inexperienced and, typical of me, instead of accepting reality, I tried forcing things to work the way I wanted them to. Diamonds are made under pressure but, given enough force, anything will break. And so it did.”

Aquarama – Together (A Better Place To Celebrate)

The Italian duo return with a dreamy slice of psych-pop that harks back to the trippy sound of the 60’s, while still maintaining a current indie edge.

The song was written as a way to remind us that better times are ahead; of being together and celebrating life in the sun!

Look out for the big final choir, where more than twenty voices from Italy, UK, Brazil and America all sing along in the chorus with Aquarama.

There must be a better place to celebrate together.

There will be a better time to celebrate, again, together.

New Music: JAYNIE

Life wouldn’t be normal if we didn’t feature at least one Swedish pop talent every week. So here’s a treat for you!

JAYNIE takes inspiration from the music of the early 2000s and adds a current spin to create something playful and charming; all the while her lyrics carry darker tones as a contrast. On her new single ‘Blame’, JAYNIE explains:

”It’s like playing chess, you have to be smart and know the next move to ruin the other persons plan (aka push the right buttons to get an outcome that’s in your favour). But it’s silly, because in the end it’s JUST a game, but it can get a little too serious and then it’s not fun anymore. It’s knowing when you’ve gone too far that’s the hardest I think.”

New Music: Benner

Danish singer-songwriter Benner crafts a style of pop that is stripped back and minimal, yet full of emotion and personality. The songs themselves carry a sense of rawness and authenticity, which translate perfectly when Benner performs on stage:

When I perform live, I try my best to find the nerve and presence from which the songs were created. I know how much I appreciate hearing musicians communicate from the heart which is why I sing my soul out every single time I am in front of an audience.”

Taken from the upcoming EP ‘My Mind Is A Movie Of The Night’ which out soon.
