Housewife – Divorce

Canadian starlet Housewife (aka Brighid Fry) returns today with a sensational new single, intriguingly called ‘Divorce’.

The track was inspired by the intense feelings of heartbreak that the artist once experienced and translates the power of those emotions into a raw and gritty yet elevated piece of shoegaze music. Elaborating on the lyrics, Fry says:

“‘Divorce’ is a really personal one for me- I wrote it after experiencing really bad heartbreak that kind of blindsided me and completely uprooted me. It’s about not only mourning the person and the relationship you have with them, but also the life you were building together. It’s about starting to rebuild and the struggle between needing to protect yourself, but also not wanting to be involved in something adversarial with someone who has hurt you. The process of making this song was completely different than any others of mine- it was written in about half an hour which is definitely the fastest I’ve ever managed. I then took my time to record it though, co-producing with my friend Hans Li over the course of about a month. We slowly recorded everything ourselves in his bedroom. It’s the first track I have co-produced in years which I’m really excited about.”

Despite being only 21 years of age, Housewife has already garnered over three million catalogue streams on Spotify to date, while also attracting more than 17k monthly listeners on the platform. ‘Divorce’ is lifted from the acclaimed musician’s next EP, which is scheduled for release next spring.

Natasha Hunt Lee – Reasons

It’s been a short while, but we’re pleased to announce that the mighty Natasha Hunt Lee is back, and this time she’s treating us to a beautifully vulnerable track called ‘Reasons’.

The song was co-written and produced by Brandon Shoop, who is also known for his work with artists like Arden Jones and Quinn XCII. On the lyrics, Natasha says:

“People like to think that accepting something is the same as finding peace with it, but it’s not really as simple as that. ‘Reasons’ is about giving yourself the grace to feel the way you do, and extending that grace towards the other person as well.”

Fans will be pleased to learn that a new album from the artist is slated for release soon. In the meantime, we suggest you head over to Natasha’s Spotify and immerse yourselves in her brilliant music right now!

Public Order – STRANGER

Rising UK outfit Public Order impress us once again with the release of another powerful indie anthem, this time going by the title of ‘STRANGER’.

This is the kind of song that rewards you the longer you listen. Starting as a relatively stripped-back production, the track evolves into a bold, intense, and extremely moving sound, which is really quite something to behold. Elaborating on the release, the band says:

“‘STRANGER’ for us is exactly what Public Order is about—it’s guitar music and storytelling, backed by the synths and drums of the dance music we love and grew up on.”

The group has amassed more than 2.5 million streams from the release of just three singles to date. And with that, we reckon 2025 might be the year that these chaps break into the mainstream!

Bradley Jago – Bound To You

Queer soul artist Bradley Jago returns with a sensational new single called ‘Bound To You’, and it deserves your immediate attention.

Aside from its immensely catchy melody, this track’s lyrics shine as Jago confesses to the ways he is able to ‘manipulate himself, others and situations to be able to be enticing to another person for a short period of time’. It’s an interesting concept for a piece of soul music, and one that keeps listeners hooked on every sung word.

We’ve assumed for some time now that Jago could end up being one of the UK’s next big soul exports. And with support from outlets like Spotify, who recently included his song ‘Keep On’ to their flagship ‘Fresh Finds’ playlists, it seems like we’re not the only ones who think so!

Cate Tomlinson – The Ring of Fire

Cate Tomlinson’s new single is really quite the sonic experience. On ‘The Ring of Fire’, listeners are treated to a distinctively dark electronic pop sound that is refreshingly original in style.

The song is conceptual and bold while still maintaining a mainstream essence that guarantees enjoyment for anyone who chooses to press play. On the lyrics, Cate says:

“I wrote this song about a girl who is seduced by the devil in the shape of a boy. He tricks her into sacrificing herself by promising they can be together forever in the afterlife. The story is about temptation, manipulation, and being loyal to something that is intoxicating in the moment but ultimately fatal.”

The track serves as a final taster to the artist’s sophomore record, which is called ‘The Side Effects of You’. Fans won’t have long to wait—the EP comes out on the 6th of December. Until then, though, you can explore more of Cate’s music on her Spotify here.

Vilhelm Buchaus – My Mistake

Track of the week. The mighty Vilhelm Buchaus is back with yet another big song to remind us just why he’s becoming one of Scandinavia’s hottest musical prospects.

‘My Mistake’ is an energising slice of pop-rock that is impossible not to enjoy. The melody is anthemic, the vocals are captivating, and the lyrics are likely to resonate with anyone who’s ever loved the wrong person.

“’My Mistake’ is about a complicated relationship where two people are stuck in a destructive cycle, constantly coming back to each other, even though they both know it will end in disappointment. The song reflects emotional confusion that ultimately leads to pain.”

This track could easily get an arena crowd on their feet and goes to show just how much potential this rising talent has. Fans can look forward to Vilhelm’s debut EP, called ‘Quiet Rooms’, being released soon via TEN.

Rooskin – Searchin’ For A Reason (feat. Beach for Tiger)

Of all the tracks we’ve played so far this month, ‘Searchin’ For A Reason’ has to be one of the most interesting to cross our radars.

A collaboration between rising UK outfits Rooskin and Beach for Tiger, this track sounds like nothing we’ve heard before.

While maintaining a mellow and dreamy essence, the track also carries with it a captivating sense of eccentricity, which is really quite hypnotising. Adding to its uniqueness, the song’s lyrics serve as a ‘commentary on generational blame’.

And if you loved this sound as much as we have, then you might be pleased to learn that these two bands are working on a full EP together, which explores ‘concepts centred around the confusions of the modern world’.

Orlando Hotopf – Half Light

We’ve made no secret in the past about our love of Stockholm-based singer and songwriter Orlando Hotopf. This immensely talented artist returns with a new release today, titled ‘Half Light’.

Refreshingly raw in form, the song looks at the dynamics of caring for someone who needs help. The topic is approached with sincerity and emotion, and overall, this is a very moving song.

“Normally when I write songs they come out intuitively and I figure out the meaning later on, but this one was different. It is about processing the reality of supporting someone who is not well. It’s my way of saying that I will always be there, will stay strong and will guide them home even when the road feels long and the ending is barely visible.”

‘Half Light’ was recorded in Arcade Fires’ old studio in Canada, with production from Tyler Neil Johnson and mastering completed in London’s iconic Abbey Road.

Orlando’s music has gained good momentum in recent months, amassing several thousand streams on Spotify from only three singles.

Apricot Ink – Aquarius Pisces

Aussie music project Apricot Ink is back with a beautifully and eccentric new single today, and we’re quite sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we have.

‘Aquarius Pisces’ is really quite a wonderful song—the instrumentation is minimal and mellow, and the vocals subtly glide over a simple melody.

The lyrics, however, are what we love most about this track. They’re inspired by the warning signs we don’t see when we’re in an incompatible relationship, which is something we’ve all probably experienced at some point in our lives…

“If you’re into star signs (like we are), you might know (or not) that Aquarius & Pisces aren’t the most compatible. I was seeing someone casually, and didn’t really know when we started or when it ended. There were no real red flags, but it never felt quite right. It was a loud gut feeling. Like the stars were not aligning for us, and they may never. So we wrote this song about that feeling. Which was quite strong for me in that situation. Made me reflect on how maybe I ignored the signs and continued with something that wasn’t necessarily the best. We mention Kyanite too, which is a stone that is said to bring a calming energy and enhance intuition. The line “you’re chasing your sunset, I’m clutching my Kyanite” is describing the two different types of people and how we were out of sync. I’m not much of a cryer, but when I cry, I can’t stop. So the bridge is a literal outpour hahaha. We wanted to describe something painful, with playful words. And loved ‘My eyes are dripping oozey ooze’, so that stuck. (Dripping Oozey Ooze was actually the name of the song for a while, before we changed it to Aquarius Pisces.) Maybe someone else out there understands this feeling.”

Fans can look forward to a new EP called ‘Vibey Barbie’, which is out on the 15th November. In the meantime, you can explore more of Apricot Ink’s music on Spotify here.

Mazey Haze – My Lilies

‘My Lilies’ serves as Mazey’s first independent release, and sets the tone for a new chapter in this highly gifted artist. We can’t wait to hear what comes next!

Amsterdam’s Mazey Haze makes a triumphant return this week with a stunning new single called ‘My Lilies’.

In our opinion, this track showcases the best of the rising singer-songwriter. With its dreamy indie-pop production, hypnotic vocals, and charming lyrics, the song draws listeners into a retro-inspired soundscape that is mesmerising to experience.

The song explores cynicism, the inability to feel safe in connection, and becoming aware of these personal traits.

‘My Lilies’ serves as Mazey’s first independent release and sets the tone for a new chapter for this highly gifted artist. We can’t wait to hear what comes next!

New Music: Isabel Pless

Nashville singer and songwriter Isabel Pless has to be one of our favourite discoveries of the month. As a musician who has been consistently gaining momentum across the globe, it seems only a matter of time before Isabel hits the mainstream.

‘I Don’t Feel Pretty’ is the artist’s latest single, and was inspired by the effects that modern-day life has on us—heightening our insecurities and increasing feelings of loneliness.

Through its simple melody and considered style of production, the track’s lyrics really shine through, allowing for listeners to relate to the words (and let’s face it, we all sometimes share the song’s sentiments).

Despite being a relative newcomer, Isabel’s music has garnered more than 4.5 million streams on Spotify to date, proving that this starlet really is a talent to watch for.

Martin Luke Brown – hello !

After a hugely successful year as a part of supergroup FIZZ, Alfitude favourite Martin Luke Brown is back with one of the most interesting releases of the week.

‘hello !’ treats listeners to a heady fusion of indie, lo-fi pop, and R&B. The track is as eccentric as it is charming, and is complimented by comforting lyricism that encourages us to look at the positives in life.

“Given the whirlwind of the past year with FIZZ I thought it would be fun to kickstart my next project with an acknowledgement that there may well be lots of new people listening to me as well as old friends. It’s a lil groovy one about changing and adapting as life moves. I never want my artist project to feel like a cage I’ve built for myself.”

Matt Sahadi – A Late Night Mantra

We’ve enjoyed Nashville artist Matt Sahadi’s music for quite some time, so we’re thrilled to see that he’s back with a mesmerising new single called ‘A Late Night Mantra’.

The track’s lyrics dwell on a former relationship that Sahadi experienced and focuses on the associated anxieties that he went through as a result. These feelings keep the artist awake in the night, and yet, “Promising himself he will move on in the morning, the pattern of destructive thinking leads Matt to realize that he “[Knows himself] better.”

Sonically, the track gathers its inspiration from works by the likes of The Cure and Fontaines DC. If this is your first time coming across Sahadi’s music, then be sure to explore his Spotify and give his latest EP, ‘Dreams That Kept Your Faith At Night,’ a spin here.

Noah Vernon – SECOND CHOICE

Track of the week. We’ve made no secret in the past of our love for rising Australian artist Noah Vernon and his impressive take on pop music.

Today sees the return of the much-hyped musician with an anthemic new single called ‘SECOND CHOICE’. This track packs a punch with its rousing blend of pop and indie-rock and powerful lyricism.

“‘SECOND CHOICE’ is about a toxic relationship. It’s written from the perspective of he/she having a wake-up call about the situation but still second guessing what is going on. Being in that tricky relationship limbo of not knowing when to leave but also knowing it’s wrong at the same time.”

If you’re as obsessed with Noah as we are, then be sure to experience his recently released ‘THIS EP TOOK 5 YEARS’ record, which is highly recommended. You can check it out on Spotify right here.

Rum Jungle – Weather’s Better

It’s been quite the week, so what better way to end it than with Rum Jungle’s latest bop, ‘Weather’s Better’.

This highly infectious track blends upbeat pop with indie in a way that brings joy to any listener, and the lyrics compliment the production since they’re about “that feeling you get when you’re cruising down whichever highway is your closest with whichever person is your closest; that feeling of loving life and loving someone else’s company. What the person, anywhere is good.”

“It’s a tune we had sitting around for a couple of months. It was originally much more of a chiller with some more whacky parts. I had writing it and kind of kept it in the bank until Fraz pulled it back out of the vault thinking it had heaps of potential.” – Benny, Rum Jungle

It’s a blissful, playful, and utterly charming song that deserves to be on everyone’s playlists this weekend.

If you’re a fan of this emerging outfit, then you’re in good company—there’s more than 200k monthly listeners on their Spotify! You can check out more of Rum Jungle’s music right here.

Claire Brooks – PISCES FINE

Track of the week. Pisces folk typically get a rep for being one of the more notorious signs of the zodiac, and Claire Brooks’s latest single seems to epitomise the sentiment perfectly.

‘PISCES FINE’ is inspired by the unforgettable moments we create in our youth, and the nostalgia associated with them as we grow older.

“When I wrote ‘PISCES FINE’ I was thinking about all the stupid shit I did in college with my friends and how those were some of the best moments of my life. These days I’m sober and honestly don’t go out much, and this song reminds me how good it feels to be a kid.”

Claire’s music has so far found its way onto flagship playlists like Spotify’s Fresh Finds Hip-Hop and Fresh Finds, while also garnering praise from outlets such as F Word Magazine and 1883. An upcoming EP is scheduled for release very soon!
