SG Lewis – Chemicals

“It’s about feeling helpless knowing the control that person has over you, but knowing that deep down you love that fact.”

New Music: ENNY

It’s always great to feature home-grown talent on this site. Enny hails from South-East London and has one of those unique qualities as an artist whereby she manages to encompass a finessed vocal with a strong sense of confidence and self empowerment. I’m so hyped for this kid.

Watch: Brother Leo – Hallelujah

Brother Leo’s latest release now comes with visuals directed by Sashinski and was filmed in England’s Southend, shortly before lockdown began.

“Me and Sasha wanted to create a dark and restrained visual for Hallelujah, that in a symbolic way expressed the struggle in trying to make peace with the painful fact that certain things just can’t be fixed, no matter how hard you try.”

New Music: Manilo

A polished blend of RnB and sad-pop, delivered with doses of emotion.

“The story of Minute is that of a couple that wants to spend more time together, but are slowly drifting apart. Both Siera and I sing in this song to bring this story to life and put everything together.”

New Music: NIIVA

NIIVA creates a charming mix of RnB and pop with a sense of sharpness and simplicity, while conveying the complications of modern romance.

“Relationships are a two-way street. I hope this song helps people to feel understood and recognise that they’re not alone. Sometimes we find ourselves with someone who we know isn’t right for us. I get it, I’ve been there.”

ELIO – Body Language

One of the nicer surprises to come out of 2020 has been ELIO and her irreverent take on modern life. This track is all about long distance relationships and the struggles in communicating through calls and texts.

“There’ll be times where one of us makes a joke that’ll land in person but because we can’t see the emotion that’s behind it, it gets misinterpreted to be something it’s not over text. That, along with just generally being separated by time and space, I think, can be a massive strain on a relationship and it takes a lot of energy and emotion to figure out. ‘Body Language’ is me assessing that and trying to understand it….over a four to the floor dance track.”

New Music: In Memoirs

While already crafting a name for himself in native Denmark, this is a talent that is well worth sharing with the rest of the world. A blend of pop and soft indie tones create a sound that is both easy to enjoy while also carries a deeper sense emotion.

Taken from the sophomore album ‘Hope, Fear & Fashion’ which is out soon.

AMWIN – Where Do Lonely Feelings Go?

“Where do feelings go when they don’t belong? When they’re not invited or when they are left out? When you push them away? I guess I’m still looking for the answer, but I don’t think you get rid of emotions just by trying not to feel them and I hope I haven’t ever made my feelings feel lonely by not recognising them. I guess this is a song to all the feelings that ever felt left out and made us feel left without within. Where do lonely feelings go?”

New Music: Sarah Barrios

Growing up in the small town of Torrington, Connecticut, this talent has an effortlessly cool and mellow brand of pop which is too infectious not to enjoy.

“I’d play on the bathroom floor because of the acoustics. Writing my feelings down to music, all I did was play guitar and sing, every hour of every day.”

New Music: Essy

Nashville feels like a hotbed for American electropop talent these days, and Essy does the town proud with her fresh blend of synth and soft dance beats.

“This song is about finding the confidence within yourself to walk away. Sometimes it’s the hardest thing you’ll ever have to do, because it feels like nothing is in your control, but you can’t change people and you can’t continue to be walked on until they change, either.”

New Music: Christy O’Donnell

There is a unique sense of heartfelt tenderness from this Glaswegian singer-songwriter’s sound. An emotional melody sung in the purest form that tells a story of lost love.

“‘On My Mind’ is a note to an old lover. Almost as a process of moving on for myself by finally being able to forgive myself for a situation but also letting her know that I will always think of her.”

Pastel – Daylight (feat. Ben Kessler)

An infectious fusion of soft disco and neo-soul… So perfect for a chilled sunny afternoon.

“Ben was studying in London and we got in touch through a mutual friend in Camden, from Nashville. It started more like a jam at the beginning – I was playing a few chords, Ben came up with the solos behind and then I found the guitar lead. We actually sang the song that day and finished the instrumental later in the week by adding some more layers and some choir vocals to lift the harmonies. It really was a case of spontaneity fuelling creativity!”
