Not much is known about this kid (yet…) although this RnB sound is so sublime, so minimal, and yet somehow still carries a sense of beauty that I have completely fallen for.

“Renaissance is about rebirth, and so is this EP. It’s about learning through love and experience. Renaissance looks at my relationships, and the ideas of lust, love, loss and growth.”

A collaborative project featuring a group of ladies who are solo stars in their own right, coming from the US, UK, Denmark and New Zealand. And when you listen to this track you can feel their real love of soul coming through, and it’s the most magical vibe.

‘The Only Night’ is about not wanting to work a 9-5 and so escaping that through having a mad night out. It’s about that feeling you get when you’re at the peak of the night and you never want it to end.”

“I wrote it from my personal experience from working a lot in the States and being apart from my then girlfriend, but now wife. It’s inspired by the feelings that come from spending a lot of time away from each other and waking up each morning without another day seeing her.”

Track of the week. A connect between lo-fi beats and a strong essence of emotion is how I would describe this sound. If there’s one pop name to look out for this year, it’s these kids. So damn good.

The Music Venue Trust has just launched a new initiative to try and help at least 556 grassroots music venues around the UK that are in danger of shutting their doors for good (like Bush Hall, pictured above, which has been my local venue pretty much most of my adult life) as a result of the Corona Virus lockdown.
Head on over to the Save Our Venues National Campaign Crowdfunder and try to support with whatever you can. These smaller venues have to stay open so we can continue nurturing the quality of home-grown talent that the world has come to expect from UK.
“The UK live music industry is staring into the abyss right now. I’m not able to save the whole thing on my own, but I decided to do a series of livestream shows to raise money for specific independent venues that I know and love, and that are in serious risk of disappearing right now. The success of these shows demonstrated the love that exists between music fans and their favourite grassroots music venues so the #saveourvenues campaign is a brilliant way of building on that and hopefully giving artists and music fans a chance to get involved and play a big part in helping them survive.” – Frank Turner

Polished beats, infectious hooks and a crystal-smooth vocal… Another week, another stellar Swedish talent emerges!
Taken from the forthcoming EP ‘Timing’.

“The idea of contrast has always been so important to us. Our personalities completely contrast – Sam is the illusive and quiet one, headphones in and getting inspiration from all angles and genres, putting weird sounds and erratic production over my completely different approach of bubblegum pop and cheesy lyrics. We seem to balance each other out, and it seems to work! The video and track follows that kind of idea of contrast too – it counterbalances happiness with sadness, darkness and light, lyrically happy but sonically a bit manic.”
– Adam (HYYTS)

Punchy pop and textured beats from a new British talent who’s still only 17-years old.
“Written from the perspective of somebody that is adamant they will not be changed, the song is essentially a sarcastic apology to the other person, featuring the recurring rhetorical question, “whoever told you I’d be good for you?”

Doses of melancholy are intertwined with subtle hip hop beats from this North-London talent. It’s a powerful sound that delivers intensity in a very thoughtful way.
“4 Siblings is a homage, and a letter of reassurance to family. It’s for siblings where the conditions weren’t ready for them to come into this world. It’s for siblings that are not blood related, but are connected through the electromagnetic forces of spirit. It’s a song that moves on. It encompasses a blueness but also an acceptance, and finally a message of gratitude, love and comfort in that no matter what happens, it’s alright.”
