New Music: Joyeur

Joyeur is a creative partnership between vocalist and songwriter Joelle Corey and production collaborator Anna Feller. With a feminist mentally, Joelle only selects female creators to work with; from producers to video directors.

As a duo, Joyeur craft electro-pop sounds that are not only flawlessly constructed but also infectiously memorable.

“The song illuminates my most primitive self who is constantly assessing possible risks and finding the nearest exit route. It’s about being present for your pain, the relief that comes with healing, and vibrating at a higher frequency not so bogged down by fear. In the end, it’s a song about being a human.” – Joelle Corey

I see her lipstick stains on your collar

My love lies with another

And now I’m waiting on my own

A different girl in every city

I’m sure you tell them that they’re pretty

You and your little white lies

Taken from new EP ‘The Girl Who Fell, Pt. II’ which is out now.

Dan Aura – Feel It

Rising newcomer Dan Aura returns with a stunningly sleek slice of electronic pop. ‘Feel It’ showcases Dan’s skill at expressing vulnerability through his lyrics, sharing with listeners his own experiences of heartbreak and adversity.

“‘Feel It’, for me represents a feeling of guilt that I’ve experienced a couple of times when it came to confronting my own emotions. I would get into relationships too quickly and then realise that it just didn’t feel right, this song encapsulates that feeling for me.”

The debut EP ‘Plastic’ will be released on 26th November 2021.

Alekxandr – sunflower

Independent singer, songwriter, producer and visual artist Alekxandr returns today with a hauntingly beautiful release in the form of new single ‘sunflower’.

With it’s rich soundscape and intensely moving vocals, the song serves an anthem for lovers bereft.

Following the release of ‘twist the knife’ earlier this year, this is the second track from Alekxandr’s forthcoming EP ‘somewhere to go’, of which he says:

“I’m releasing an E.P. in slow motion. Being completely independent and Virgo means everything takes a long time but the full record will be out next year. I’m calling the project ‘somewhere to go’ after I heard someone at a funeral say “grief is just love with nowhere to go”. That rang true; except making this E.P. has given me somewhere to put my love and unresolved feelings.”

New Music: Harvey Jay Dodgson

Hailing from Portsmouth, Harvey Jay Dodgson is a 19-year old talent who’s debut single ‘Caroline’ is one of the strongest British indie-rock songs that I have come across so far this month.

Bringing together raw lyrical work with driving instrumentation, this track effortlessly showcases why Harvey is an artist to watch out for.

Lila Drew – 2023

London-born singer and songwriter Lila Drew is back with a captivating modern pop bop in the form of new single ‘2023’.

The song was born out of the “frustration that comes with feeling like you’ll never change – that the things that you hate that you do will continuously be repeated throughout your life, and that fear will always get in the way.”

New Music: Lea Kampmann

Track of the week. Showcasing a superb example of Nordic alt-pop, Lea Kampmann’s ‘In Circles’ is a slow burning and glistening masterpiece that blends house-inspired synths with thoughtfully constructed percussions.

The song was inspired by the need to go out and grab life, instead of waiting for it to pass by.

“The most important thing to me as an artist is to make pieces of art that people can see themselves in.”

kid apollo – lose yourself.

One of my favourite outfits to emerge from London this year, kid apollo are back with a gorgeously introspective and moving song.

‘lose yourself.’ is an absorbing slice of lo-fi R&B that provides a stark insight into life in the English capital as a teenager.

“I wrote ‘lose yourself.’ to get across how I really felt when being consumed by the city, in both good and bad ways. I talk about how I often found myself using things that London offered to distract me from people and situations that I’ve had to leave in the past – ‘Replace it, No drama’.” – Jimmy HM, kid apollo

Debut EP ‘all i think about’ is out on the 10th November 2021.

Banji – Chills

Starting the week off with Utrecht quartet Banji’s bouncy new release, ‘Chills’. Catchy, soulful and relatable, this is one track that is guaranteed to make a connection with a lot of listeners.

“’Chills’ is about being in a rut. That feeling of how everything around you goes too fast to keep up with. It’s something everybody struggles with now and then, looking for grip. But when you can’t find that, you tend to give up and it feels like you’re stuck. Sometimes I get really tied up with myself, and it feels like my brain can’t really process what I’m trying to deal with. Being okay with that, acknowledging it, and taking a step back has helped me a lot.” – Morris Brandt, Banji

Be sure to catch the guys on their European tour:
