You probably won’t hear any RnB like this, and that makes it so exciting to listen to. Check out here.
TLC versus The xx
This is epic. A reworking of of TLC’s No Scrubs, mixed with some of The xx, covered by Bastille and introducing an elusive newcomer called Ella who’s voice is just… immense.
New Music: Tich
New Music: Duck Duck Punch
New Music: Pretty Heart
This comes across as haunting and cute at the same time, which is unusual. Check out here.
First Watch: Fleur ‘Turn The Lights On’
I’m looking forward to seeing what 2013 brings for Fleur. This is the video to her new track, ‘Turn The Lights On’, out February 17th.
New Music: Fender Heist
IGNUG
This is IGNUG. From what I’ve read, they’ve been around for some time but this is the first I’ve heard of them. I don’t know if I like or hate this song but it’s compelling to me for sure.
New Music: Jessica Ashley
New Music: Arc & Stones
An epic indie/pop sound. I really see a lot of potential with this one, specially as there seems to be a big resurgence of guitar-heavy tunes at the moment. Check out here.

Who bloggers think will be big this year…
That bastion for new music, BBC radio station 6 Music asked a bunch of music bloggers (including me) who they saw as being rising stars over the next twelve months. Click here to see the list– it’s pretty interesting.
There’s also my annual Random List which was published just before the end of last year, you can take a look at that here.
New Music: L Marshall
First Watch: The Neighbourhood ‘A Little Death’
This track (the B-side to ‘Let It Go,’) was previewed to the world just before Christmas, and now the visuals have gone live. Such a sexy sound- 2013’s going to erupt for The Neighbourhood.
Haim win BBC Sound of 2013
The winner of that big music predictor, the BBC Sound of 2013 has finally been announced as the all-sister group Haim.
While it’s an interesting choice to win, personally I haven’t been much a fan of this band although I did suspect that they would top the poll going by the amount of buzz that’s been going around in the blogosphere.
Having formally predicted the rise of artists such as Jessie J, Adele, 50 Cent and Ellie Goulding, the ‘BBC Sound’ poll is generally seen as one of the more accurate new-music predictors, so it should be interesting to see how Haim pan out over the next year.
First Listen: Hurts ‘Miracle’
So this is Hurt’s new single, which had it’s debut this morning on BBC Radio 1. It’s got that trademark broody, atmospheric sound which isn’t a bad thing. Out March 10th.
First Listen: Mike Delinquent Project ft KCAT & Mikill Pane ‘Mama Said’
So you’ve managed to get through your first working week of 2013. Personally, 2012 seems like a lifetime ago already. This new track from Mike Delinquent Project is just too chirpy not to share for a Friday morning.
New Music: Kyra
Why is everyone getting dumped?
This is a really random post, and the sort which I try to stay away from doing but since the new year there’s been a load of friends who’ve suddenly hit rock bottom with love.
This makes me sad. For someone who’s been single for the last two years, I know this sucks.
So this is to anyone who’s had a bumpy start to the year. Look ahead to twelve amazing months, even though it’s hard to see it right now.
