New Music: Sameblod

Amidst the 100’s of tracks I hear every week, something little just stands out and makes you think ‘yea!’. Sameblod did this to me this week. They’re an electropop duo from Stockholm who make friendly sounds that kinda wanna hug you and dance with you at the same time. Their remix of Lykke Li’s ‘Dance Dance Dance’ is fun. Check out here.

New Music: Airship

There’s something about listening to Airship that reminds me of my uni days in Manchester: this four-piece from the city give out a big, anthemic sound that commands your attention. Their debut album is produced by some of the team behind the Doves, Cherry Ghost the Editors. Check out here.

New Music: Ifan Dafydd

Wow, wow and WOW! This amazing, stunning piece of dubstep plays on Amy Winehouse‘s ‘No Good‘ and does it so well. My heart skips a beat when I hear stuff like this. This is just the most faultless piece of music I’ve heard in a long time. Stunning! Check out here.

New Music: The Young Professionals

“Disco I love you but cannot forgive you”. Addictive camp electropop from Israel. And diva on the chorus is Fierce. These disco re-workings are often a hot mess but this one really works. Check out here or download D.I.S.C.O (try typing that- it’s really hard…) for free right here!

New Music: Eric Ness

I think this will be love or hate, but it’s definitely a grower if you give it a chance- the video is really bizarre but I guess it compliments Norwegian Eric Ness’ ragged, jazzy, big-band vibe with a bit of pop on the side. Check out here.

The most amazing pop mashup of all time?

In the week this video of a mashup by 17-year old French kid Madeon has been up it’s almost gathered a million views on YouTube. French do it best ;-)

New Music: Kaile Goh

A big rock-pop voice from 15 year old Kaile Goh. I really like ‘Gold’, I can see a lot of kids going for the sound. She’s already been signed up with Universal so you know to expect a lot of good stuff coming from this little lady! Check out here.

Fancy some catchy Danish rock?

Danish music has been making a massive push since last year, and this band in particular have made a bit of a splash in the States. They make rock that’s catchy as hell. To the point where I just have to blog it… Check New Politics out here!

New Music: Caan

I saw this guy live a while back at Gold Dust in Hoxton and really liked his stuff. Well crafted, raw, dark pop with big attitude that really comes out live. Check out here.

Mercury Prize nominees announced tomorrow

The ponce-fest that is Mercury Prize announces it’s nominees tomorrow at 11:30am UK time. This is the top prize for British albums in the UK, but has a tendency to pick winners who I feel were chosen for shock value over actual content. For all it’s worth, my vote would have gone to Jamie Woon. Of all the albums Ive listened to this past year, it’s been the only one that’s gripped me from start to finish.

New Music: Kirsty

Kirsty’s been best known for writing the All Saints’ massive No.1 hit “Black Coffee”. Already a bit big in Europe (reaching the top 20 in the European charts), Kirsty releases the Taio Cruz penned track “Set Your Body Free” on August 22nd. Check out here.

Free Download: Adele ‘Someone Like You’ (Buffetlibre Remix)

I remember the first time I heard Adele‘s Chasing Pavements and being driven to tears, even though I had no idea what chasing pavements stood for. Now I do. But it’s testament to this girl’s amazing talent. Buffetlibre are one mighty big set of remixers- check out this download of ‘Someone Like You’.

MP3: Adele – Someone Like You (Buffetlibre mix)

New Music: Liz Green

“Someone once mentioned that Liz Green reminded them of the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you put on an old jacket and find a note in the pocket.” Check out here.

New Music: Josh Osho

Incredible British soul talent from bad-boy-gone-good Josh Osho that rivals John Legend. This track, Redemption Days, isn’t out til September but this guy’s already generating so much buzz. Inspiring and exciting! Check out here.

Free Download: Breakbot ‘Lazy Sunday Selecta Mixtape’

Breakbot is a favourite of mine at the moment. This is a free mixtape made by the French housey-pop master to chill out your Sunday with style.

Listen to Vondelpark’s EP here!

Featured a while back on here, this is Vondelpark’s new EP, ‘nyc stuff and nyc bags’. It’s a very lo-fi, classy affair- sort of perfect to listen to on a summer’s night.

First Watch: Adrian Lux feat Rebecca & Fiona ‘Boy’

The Rebecca & Fiona invasion continues. This is the new video for Adrian Lux featuring the girls and lots of… boys. I guess there’s nothing edgy here, but enjoy it for the camp factor.

New Music: Icona Pop

Icona Pop has been causing a bit of a fuss on the web for a while yet I never featured them on here. Edgy Swedish pop. “The two DJ’s decided one neon lit night to write songs about dark feelings and happy moments. The heartbroken soul and the frustrated mind combined their efforts and Icona Pop was born. These girls speak their minds and want everybody to sing along.” Check out here.

New Music: Talking Pictures

Moody but catchy electropop. Check out here or download a free Is Tropical remix here!
