Managed to catch three cool acts at the Lexington yesterday evening as part of the monthly Ja Ja Ja night. Jaakko Eino Kalevi has a certain ‘Bryan Ferry goes hipster’ vibe around, making some beats that manage to sound edgy and easy to listen to. YAST played their trademark Swedish indie sound, and Nabiha went all out with her unique and infectious blend of RnB and pop.
Category: Danish Music
New Music: Casper Milton
A distinctly unique, playful pop sound from Denmark. The other chap on the video is Colorkaleido’s Kim Vagn Wagner. Check out here.
New Music: Slaughter Beach
With a name like Slaughter Beach, you wouldn’t expect this band’s sound to be so… twinkly! Check out here.
New Music: Danni Toma
New Music: Sisse Marie
Watch: Linkoban ‘Oh Oh’
Live: Ja Ja Ja Festival at Roundhouse
Scandi music authority Ja Ja Ja hosted it’s first ever festival at London’s Roundhouse this weekend. A stellar roster of up and coming Scandinavian buzzbands filled up this ultra cool venue.
For someone like me, I was a little bit of a kid in a candy shop. Highlights were:
Postiljonen (Sweden)

Sin Fang (Iceland)

Truls (Norway)

NONONO (Sweden)

New Music: Mont Oliver
Birk Storm – R.I.P (Wyatt Heap Remix)
Danish electro pop wizz Birk Storm gets the remix treatment from Wyatt Heap.
New Music: My Heart the Brave
You could be mistaken for thinking this came out of a Hot Chip album, but it’s brilliantly executed Danish electropop. Check out here.
Swedish Dallas
Veronica Maggio goes all Daft Punk with this remix from Wagner (who happens to be one half of Danish pop due ColorKaleido).
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Maggio, she’s a Swedish pop institution who’s interestingly never released an album in English.
First Watch: Thomas Holm ‘Alting Forandres’
A serious Danish pop song. My only critique with this video is the lack of Thomas Holm’s handsome beard.
First Watch: MØ ‘Never Wanna Know’
I really do love this song from MØ so much. I described it as a bit Lykke Li before, but the more I hear it the more I want to say it’s also got some Motown and Lana Del Rey, all mixed up in a boiling pot of broken hearts.
First Listen: MØ ‘Never Wanna Know’
New Music: Sherparines
When a Danish teen heart throb covers Drake…
First Listen: Oh Land ‘Pyromaniac’
First Listen: Fallulah ‘Dragon’
Danish pop princess Fallulah comes back with an infectiously loud slice of Danish pop.
