New Music: Machine Gun Kelly

Fresh hip-hop from Cleveland, Ohio.  The video above has already been seen over half a million times on YouTube, and features cameo’s by Travis Porter and B.o.B. Fun. Check out here.

First Listen: Erik Hassle ‘Are You Leaving’

Erik Hassle, one of my favourite Swedes of late, is previewing his first new single here (wait for the Swedish ad to finish then it plays straight after). It’s out in Sweden tomorrow. It’s excellent. An electro transition from the older Hassle stuff. Love it. Nothing this man does is wrong at the moment.

New Music: Moses Melkonian

“I write my music to share moments that we all experience.  Whether that moment was when I thought ‘shit, you’re beautiful’ or ‘wow, the view from here is great,’ it doesn’t matter, because we all feel greatness like that, usually together, as a collective entity.  And you know that’s happening when a killer track comes on and everyone’s dancing.  It’s like wow! – what’s happening here?  Those moments are timeless, and I want to feel them in everything I do. I create my tracks from impulsive feelings, and for me it’s just about staying true to that  impulse, and letting that mature and grow into something transcendental.” I haven’t heard of Moses Melkonian until today, and there doesn’t seem to be much out there online about his work but this is simply a gorgeous piece of music. Check out here.

New Music: Erika Fatale

This lady has been on my radar for a while now. Very strong voice, Erika Fatale has a vibe which makes me think this is the sort of music Christina Aguilera would be doing if she had her head screwed on properly. Having listened to a few of her tracks, I have a feeling it’ll be a matter of time before she blows up in the pop world… ‘Liquid’ is an impressive tune. Check out here.

New Music: Lectrolips

Lectrolips make music which I can only sum up as cheeky electropop. It’s fun. Their song ‘Stromotion’ was recently used in the WAHL UK commercial campaign. I have a WAHL, without which I would probably look like a monster. So on that account, I reckon they’re good. They’ve got some good tracks which you can download for free here, or check out their blog.

New Music: The New Spring

”When being in love everything that was inside before is now worn outside. Sweat bubbles in your palms, blood flushes through to the cheek (blushing). This feeling illustrates more than anything else the body’s reluctance to take a definite form”. Beautiful acoustic songs about love from Bastian Kallesøe. Check out here.

The Streets has to go to Number 1 on Sunday’s charts… It has to!

So, The Street’s very last album was released this week in the UK. It’s currently on course to make the Top 5 in the album charts on Sunday. But for what is probably the best album to come out of Mike Skinner since ‘A Grand Don’t Come For Free’, as well as the sheer fact that this is THE LAST ONE, I really think everyone should go out and buy a CD or go to iTunes and get a copy… It’s epic, and has that ‘last day of term’ vibe to it. It’s excellent… Trust Me.

Love disco? You NEED this album!

I was at Fopp (in Covent Garden) earlier today and I had one of those ‘I’m trying super hard not to dance to whatever it is they’re playing on the stereo’ moments, but I gave up and started doing a bit of shuffling around the DVD isle. After overcoming my shyness and asking the hot Fopp person what it was they were playing, I was told it was Disco Discharge: Mondo Disco. There’s some Boney M, Liquid Gold and Space alongside Andy Williams and Passengers. Disco works best when mixed properly, and this is definitely one of the better disco compilations around. None of the super famous numbers, but it’ll make your groove shake.
