First Listen: Say Lou Lou ‘Better in the Dark’
New Music: DNKL
Minimal, dark Swedish electro. Check out here.
First Watch: Tove Lo ‘Out Of Mind’
New Music: Beast
New Music: Brighton
Uplifting Norwegian indie pop with lots of whistles and big hooks. Definitely brings a smile to my face. Check out here.
Sin Fang – Young Boys (Jónsi Remix)
First Watch: Thomas Holm ‘Alting Forandres’
A serious Danish pop song. My only critique with this video is the lack of Thomas Holm’s handsome beard.
New Music: Galantis
Feeling good about this week. Here’s an uplifting dance sound. Check out here.
I won’t let the weekend go… Just yet…
Jonas Rathsman delivers a smooth slice of house that I can’t not share with you this weekend.
First Watch: Elliphant ‘Could It Be’
One of my favourite Swedish newcomers, Elliphant has come up with a new video (and a new sound it seems). It’s still got a quirk, but is a lot easier to take in than some of her previous tracks.
Live: Cajsa Siik at The Tavern Lock London
I had two events to hit last night, so I couldn’t stay as long as I wanted to watch a whole list of talented Swedish singers perform as part of a Birds Will Sing For You showcase but the couple of songs I managed to watch Cajsa Siik were beautiful.
Others on the night were Ms. Henrik and The Fiery Piano.
New Music: Naomi Pilgrim
One of the coolest, quirkiest slices of pop this week. Check out here.
New Music: All That Is
Subdued Swedish electro. Check out here.
New Music: Mapei
Airy soul pop with some big beats. Check out here.
Some high-brow Swedish conceptual pop…
Just because it’s an epic bit of music. It actually comes from a Swedish theatre adaptation of ‘Dracula’, by Jonathan Johansson and Johan Eckeborn.
First Watch: MØ ‘Never Wanna Know’
I really do love this song from MØ so much. I described it as a bit Lykke Li before, but the more I hear it the more I want to say it’s also got some Motown and Lana Del Rey, all mixed up in a boiling pot of broken hearts.
New Music: Helena Johansson
A Beyonce cover by Ane Brun & Linnea Olsson
I’m not Beyonce’s biggest fan but now that I hear this reworking by Ane Brun, it does make me appreciate ‘Halo’ more. Just slightly.
