Catchy new Swedish pop. Check out here.
New Music: Blackbird Blackbird
I can’t describe this sound but it plays around with a lot of fun sounds and has a summery feel to the whole thing. Check out here.
New Music: Locnville
South African electro/ hip hop made by twins. And they are absolutely huge down South… Check out here.
Swedish pop belter of the week
Ola is very huge in Sweden, but his music seems to divide people. It can get repetitive and a bit too candy for some tastes but I think its genius.
Your Friday morning mood-setter
There’s something about Chaka Khan’s ‘Aint Nobody’ that makes one’s heart pulse ever so slightly and the blood flowing a little quicker. This is one bad-ass reworking of the track that is weekend worthy.
New Music: Pegase
New Music: Broken Door
New Music: Nick Ellis & The Noise

Watch out.. Andreas Moe will take you over…
I’ve made no secret of how much I like Andreas Moe. He’s making huge impact over in native Sweden for his effortlessly catchy and beautifully stylish songs. Anyway, he’s finally coming over to the UK to plug his sounds via his new debut EP Collecting Sunlight on June 25th, and so it feels only right to give it a mention.
Having played in several bands in Sweden, and having leant his voice to a number of dance tracks, he signed his first UK publishing deal in January 2011. His collaborations already include DJ Avicii (Fade into Darkness) and John de Sohn (Long Time).
But he still describes his sound as being The Script meets Robyn meets Prince: electronic but organic. Check out here.
New Music: Young Believers
A Folk/Beat band who have been lucky enough to already support Willy Mason, The Mystery Jets, The Rifles, and The Fratellis. Check out here.
New Music: Kirsten & Marie
Brilliantly catchy indie pop from Denmark that has a very distinct 90’s vibe around it. It’s impossible not to smile when you listen to this! Check out here.
First Watch: Aiden Grimshaw ‘Is This Love’
An extraordinary, soaring pop anthem exploding with grinding drum & bass beats. Released on RCA on June 3rd and taken from Aiden Grimshaw’s debut album ‘Misty Eye’ which will be released on August 13th. The album was co-written by Aiden and produced by Jarrad Rogers (Lana del Rey, Tinchy Stryder).

New Music: Northbrook
An extremely addictive chorus that references the heady times of jazz clubs in eras past but with a completely modern swing. It’s the first of many smashing singles to come from the trio who are fascinated by the sex, the smoke and the swing of the pre-war heady days. Check out here.
New Music: Eli and Fur
It’s that time of the month when I get overly excited about a new pop act that sounds amazing. Eli & Fur are a girl DJ duo from London and Surrey who have played around the world and have made their own house mixes since they were 16. Both now 23, they’re on the precipice of finding their vocal talent and have recorded their first studio song ‘Sea of Stars’. The track is available as a free download. Check out here.
Free Download: Giana Factory ‘Dive’
Giana Factory are giving away a rather fabulous un-released album track from their forthcoming debut ‘Save The Youth’. The track is called ‘Dive’ and is perfect for fans of dark synth-pop with beautifully icy female vocals from the Danish trio.
New Music: Allman Brown
This kid’s gone a long way since sneaking into gigs whilst working as a bartender at the Royal Albert Hall. Check out here.
Sometimes you enjoy a song more when you don’t understand the lyrics…
I’m a firm believer that you can fall in love with songs sung in different languages. I like to make up my own interpretations of lyrics in these cases, and that ends up making these songs even more personal to me than they were probably intended to be. This is one such song. It drums up images of church, sounds of hymns and general warmth. I like it.
If you’re looking for a nice Nordic pop album to buy…
… give this one a try. They’re one of my favourite Scandi duos and they deserve world domination. Here’s a bit of blurb… ‘
Wild arctic nature. Big city pulse. Fearless synthesizers, miles and miles of reverb, and delicate rhythms. Delicious swedish indietronica from Stockholm by way of San Francisco and the cold northern regions of Sweden. Long nights of dancing and long hikes in the mountains.
Single UR Road feels like a long fun summer distilled into four minutes of sweet electropop with bouncy hooks and lush vocals. There’s even some whistling in there as well.
Sameblod is one of Swedens most promising and exciting new acts – Frederick and Mikael in Sameblod have received lots of blog-attention, even more plays on Soundcloud and hopefully this is just the beginning.
Sameblod release their debut album april 20th through Norwegian indie label Riot Factory.
